Article 1. Fire Limits

The fire limits of the city shall be as follows: That part of the city bounded on the north by First Street, on the east by Walnut Street, on the south by Fourth Street, and on the west by Maple Street.

(a)   Building hereafter erected, altered or relocated within the fire limits shall be enclosed on  all four sides with walls constructed wholly of stone, brick, tile, terra cotta, concrete or concrete blocks and shall have the roof, top and sides of all structures, including dormer windows and mansard roofs covered with incombustible material.

(b)   No existing shingle roof within the fire limits shall be renewed or repaired with other than incombustible roof covering.

(c)   Any existing frame building within these limits which may hereafter be damaged by fire, decay or otherwise in an amount greater than one-half of the value exclusive of the foundation may not be repaired and must be removed. Nothing herein shall prevent the repairing or remodeling of any existing building other than its roof, if the cost of such repairs or remodeling shall not exceed one-half of the value of the building upon the completion of such repair or remodeling.
