CHAPTER IV. BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTIONCHAPTER IV. BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION\ARTICLE 2. UNIFORM, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CODES ADOPTED

The following Uniform, National and International Codes with changes are adopted and shall constitute the minimum standards for the construction, reconstruction, alteration, remodeling, occupancy, location or maintenance of buildings and structures.

(a)   The 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code,

(b)   The 2004 54 and 58 NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) L.P. Gas Codes,

(c)   The 2000 Uniform Mechanical Code,

(d)   The 2003 International Building Code, and

(e)   The 2003 International Residential Code.

(f)   The 2002 National Electrical Code, with the following addendums:

(1)   A requirement that an equipment grounding conductor shall be installed in all raceways, whether rigid or flexible, or whether metallic or nonmetallic,

(2)   A requirement that all underground wires are to be installed in Schedule 40 or better listed conduit.

(a)   The above adopted building codes shall be administered by Butler County, Kansas, in conformity with an interlocal Agreement between the city and county.

(b)   Any changes in the county codes will be adopted by the city.

An electrical inspection to be performed by a code official or inspector on structures from which electrical service has been discontinued for six months or more. A standard building permit and applicable fee must be received by the City prior to the performance of such inspection. If the system is found to be satisfactory, the code official or inspector shall notify the electrical utility company that service can be restored.
